On behalf of Fr. Griffith, myself, and the staff of Our Lady Lourdes, I want to thank you for your attendance and participation at the Liturgical Ministry Morning held this past weekend. We had an outstanding turn-out (50 total, 17 new!).
Your questions, comments and receptivity on Saturday morning is what made the training session a success - thank you for your participation.
I want to recap some main points from Saturday:
1.) Regardless of the ministry in which you serve, please arrive 10-15 minutes before your assigned Mass.
2.) When you arrive please sign-in (initial next to your name) at the 'Liturgical Minster Check-in'. Where is it located? As you enter the main entrance of the church there are two tables on either side of the main aisle - the 'Liturgical Minister Check-in' is now located on the right-hand side table as you face the Altar. It is crucial that you check-in in a timely manner so that the Sacristan will be able to see if any spots need to be filled.
3.) Attire: our church is a perfect example of 'noble simplicity' which reflects the beauty and dignity of the Mass; regardless of your ministry please use this as the primary guide in discerning your dress. (Current ministers - since I have been here you have exhibited great taste in what you wear and have set a good example for our new ministers).
4.) Eucharstic Minsters who distribute communion to those in the choir loft:
- Please go directly to the choir loft upon receiving the ciborium/plate. I will make sure that the musicians (including all of the choir members) are ready to receive the Eucharist upon your arrival so that you do not have to wait to distribute.
- After you distribute the Eucharist to the musicians, please proceed to the main floor and distribute the Eucharist to those who are physically unable to participate in the communion procession.
5.) Sacristans: We ask that you set-up and attend the Mass for which you are scheduled. We strongly discourage the practice of setting-up for future Masses because we do not want the elements/vessels sitting-out for several hours, but most importantly the priest and liturgical team need you present at Mass.
Please do not hesitate get in touch with me if you have any questions regarding the training!
Please mark your calendars:
Our next Liturgical Minister Morning will be held on
Saturday, September 12th, 2020 from 9:30am - 11:00am.
I ask that you continue to attend these training sessions because we will have guidelines/procedures that evolve. Additionally, the presence of experienced liturgical ministers plays heavily into the success of any given training as we seek to encourage and train new liturgical ministers.
Lastly, if you have questions regarding Minsitry Scheduler Pro please email me,
[email protected] OR Mary Asp,
[email protected]. This scheduling software is a gift that helps all of us keep aware of when we are scheduled to minister, who needs a sub, etc. If you have not received Log-in information or need help setting-up please let us know.
Upon reflecting upon the training I was reminded of the powerful words of St. Teresa of Avila:
Christ has no body now but yours.
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which He sees,
Yours are the feet witrh which he walks,
Yours are the hands with which he blesses all the world,
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes.
Each of you are so important to the mission of Jesus Christ here at Our Lady of Lourdes - thank you for answering the call to serve.
